What is Compounding?

MEETING and EXCEEDING Industry Standards!

Before the mass production of medications, compounding was a routine skill for most pharmacists. Now, compounding pharmacists, especially those with experience, are far less common. Compounding enables Crosby's to create specific pharmaceutical products to fit the unique needs of each patient. This may be done for medical reasons, such as changing the form of the medication from a solid pill to a liquid, avoiding a non-essential ingredient that the patient is allergic to, or obtaining the exact dose needed. It may also be done for voluntary reasons, such as adding flavors to a medication.

Crosby's has the ability to compound many dosage forms, including (but not limited to) gels, capsules, creams, and suspensions. We work under the strict rules and regulations of both USP 795 and USP 800 to ensure safety and accuracy for all prescriptions.

Hormone Therapy

Hormone replacement therapy affects many people of all ages. Fluctuations in hormone levels occur in both men and women throughout life, however, as individuals grow older, these fluctuations may become more pronounced deficits.

Symptoms of hormonal imbalance may consist of:

  • Low Energy
  • Irritability
  • Insomnia
  • Hot Flashes
  • Night Sweats
  • Weight gain
  • Muscle Loss
  • Depression

It is important to speak with your physician and pharmacist about different options that are available. To best determine your needs, a physician may order laboratory tests while also reviewing symptoms. Our pharmacists at Crosby’s are happy to work with physicians who may have questions about prescribing hormone therapy.

Dentistry

Our caring pharmacists work closely with many central Ohio dentists to provide customized and pain-free care. Dental medications involve your taste buds, and some have an unpleasant taste. The art and science of compounding allows our pharmacy to customize the flavors of most medications without altering their effectiveness. We can ship medicine directly to your dentist’s office, or it may be picked up and brought to your appointment.

Pain Management

Millions of Americans are partially or totally disabled due to either acute or chronic pain. Though there are many pain relief medications on the market, they often have unwanted side effects.

Compounded pain cream is absorbed by the skin directly at the site of your discomfort. Our pharmacists will work with your doctor to find the appropriate combination & strength of ingredients to best relieve your symptoms.

Call us today to discuss your pain and how we can help!

Low-Dose Naltrexone

Due to the publication of several studies within the last decade, low-dose naltrexone (commonly referred to as LDN) has become a preferred treatment option for many physicians. LDN has been used in a wide variety of patients, including those with fibromyalgia, pain, IBD, neurologic dysfunction, and more.
